KS Paintings Inc - frequently asked questions

Question 1

How long does it take to paint a house interior?

Accepted Answer

A typical three-bedroom interior takes three to five working days including preparation, two coats and clean-up. Preparation is the part that varies most: patching, sanding and priming damaged drywall can add a day or more on older Metro Detroit homes.

Question 2

Do you repair drywall before painting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Patching, taping, skim-coating and priming are done as part of the job rather than billed as an afterthought. Paint over unrepaired drywall highlights the damage instead of hiding it, so the prep is where a lasting finish is actually made.

Question 3

What is the best time of year for exterior painting in Michigan?

Accepted Answer

Late spring through early autumn, when daytime temperatures stay reliably above roughly fifty degrees and overnight lows do not drop near freezing. Michigan humidity matters as much as temperature - paint applied to a damp surface will not bond properly.

Question 4

How many coats of paint do you apply?

Accepted Answer

Two finish coats as standard, over primer where the surface needs it. A single coat is only appropriate when recoating the same colour on a sound, previously painted surface, and we will say so rather than charging for work the wall does not need.

Question 5

Do I need to move my furniture?

Accepted Answer

No. We move and cover furniture, mask floors, trim and fixtures, and put the room back afterwards. Small valuables and anything fragile are best put away by you before we arrive.

Question 6

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

Metro Detroit and Southeast Michigan, including Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties and the surrounding communities.

Question 7

Are you licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We carry liability insurance and can provide a current certificate before work starts. Ask for it - any painter who hesitates to produce one is not worth the risk on your property.

Question 8

Do you provide free estimates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We look at the actual surfaces, measure, and give a written estimate with the scope set out. Quoting a painting job accurately over the phone is not possible once wall condition is involved.
